Laboratory overview
Most of the matter in the universe is believed to be dark matter, which does not emit light and whose true nature remains unknown. At Kazama Laboratory, we search for dark matter using data currently being collected by XENONnT, one of the world’s largest liquid-xenon dark matter experiments, and aim to uncover the physics beyond the Standard Model that may lie behind it. We also work on rare-event searches, including new low-energy neutrino astronomy and neutrinoless double-beta decay.
In parallel, toward the future XLZD experiment, we are developing new detector technologies in-house, including ultra-low-background photosensors and hermetic liquid xenon detectors.
